He was past exalted ruler of the Lewiston Lodge of Elks, member of the Legion Post 22, First Aid Instructor with the American Red Cross and a past member and Chairman of the Lewiston School Committee. He purchased the Fahey Funeral Home on Pine Street in Lewiston in 1984 and operated Fahey-Forrest Funeral Home until his retirement in 2003. In 1978, He sold Allied to Central Maine Medical Center which became United Ambulance. In 1965, he opened an Air Ambulance, the only one of its design in New England with the goal to provide faster ambulance service between Maine and larger medical centers in Boston, Mass. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend. ![]() His dog, Bella, would follow him everywhere, especially when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. One of his favorite hobbies was tinkering in the garage. Pete had a great sense of humor, was quite the jokester and very quick-witted. If he couldn’t remember your name, he would affectionately call you “Bud”. We often joked that he talked to everyone, whether he knew them or not. Pete was always there to help his family whenever they needed him. ![]() He always attended their sporting events, no matter how far they were. He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren and their successful careers. In January, he was lucky enough to have a family vacation in St Cloud, Cocoa Beach, New Smyrna Beach, and Orlando, Fla. Recently he enjoyed traveling to Florida looking forward to early morning sunrises and evening sunsets. One of his greatest joys was snowmobiling with his family. Together they enjoyed boating, many years at Naples Marina, taking rides, day trips, and camping at the KOA campground. In 1974 he married his high school sweetheart, the former Nancy Bolduc, and they were happily married for 48 years. He established many friendships at Lee as a coworker, mentor, and father-figure to many. He was a loyal and dedicated employee, so much so, that he continued to work there after retirement whenever he was needed. Pete held various jobs throughout the years, but deeply enjoyed his tenure at Lee Auto Mall in Auburn, first as a salesman and retiring as a service writer in 2020. He was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School. He was born in Lewiston on June 16, 1955, the son of Gilbert and Pauline Dumas.
